I found myself with a day off during the week and was feeling a little bored. Instead of wasting time watching TV and staying inside, I decided to take myself to Potter Park Zoo, a great little zoo in Lansing, MI. When I arrived, the parking lot was pretty empty. I thought to myself, "That's a good sign." I walked through the gate, got my bearings, and started exploring.
One of the first exhibits I came across was the Bald Eagles. There were three of them, but they were being kind of lazy and not doing much. I decided to keep walking and see what else the zoo had to offer.
As I made my way back around, I stopped at the eagle exhibit again. For some reason, I really wanted an image of at least one of them, but not just a typical shot of them sitting around. I kept observing, hoping for something more dynamic.
Then, I noticed one of the eagles heading off to the right of the exhibit and disappearing from view. Curious, I followed and found him hanging out in a man-made eagle bird box, a perfect photo opportunity! I couldn't resist. I stepped closer, carefully stuck my lens through the netting, and got an up-close and personal shot.
In that moment, I knew this image was the best of the day. Capturing the Bald Eagle in such a unique way felt pretty exciting. The detail and intensity in the eagle's eyes were intense, and I was thrilled with the result.
So what do you think those eyes are saying? In my humble opinion I can't type those words here. And we will leave it at that..
